Australian tattoo removal is priced per session, with a clinic minimum of around $100. Most clinics offer discounts for prepaid courses (a course of 6 sessions is usually 10–20% cheaper than booking sessions one at a time).

What changes the price
- · Multi-colour ink — green, blue, yellow take more sessions and often a second laser wavelength.
- · Tattoo age — fresh dark work is much harder to clear than 20-year-old faded traditional.
- · Pico vs Q-Switch — Pico sessions are 30–50% more expensive per session, but you typically need fewer.
- · Just fading for cover-up? — 3–5 sessions are usually enough. Total cost roughly half of full removal.
Cover-up alternative
If you're removing the tattoo because you don't like it — not because you want clear skin — a cover-up is far cheaper and faster. A skilled artist can cover most older tattoos with 2–3 fade sessions first ($300–$1,500 in laser) plus the cover-up itself (typically $800–$2,500). Read our removal vs cover-up guide.
